lance night, dustin lance black, who wrote the screenplay for MILK, was in town chatting at the local university and shared his thoughts with students and community members about his work and lgbt issues. namely that the queer community should go out of it’s way to support all other groups, noting that harvey milk often spoke about the collection of groups based on race, age, sexual orientation, etcetera and they can work together to make a positive changes in the world. it was passionate and eloquent.. and a lot of things that i’m not necessarily all the time but i guess that’s why this guy has the academy award right?

at any rate, he also mentioned his film that he’s shopping around named “what’s wrong with virginia?”, which i am really intrigued about. apparently it’s semi-autobiographical and about his experience caring for his disabled mother. a trying and humorous tale which is something that i can relate to as of late.
